Upon his arrival in our home town for the annual Osborne
Brothers’ Bluegrass Festival last weekend, my brother Ken sent me a text message…”You won’t
believe this, but there’s a booth in the
middle of downtown Hyden, KY (population less than 500) advertising free cell
phones.” ObamaPhones for all the good citizens of Hyden and Leslie County, KY. I replied that I
was not really surprised, then went on a rant about the Universal Access Fee that is
charged on every single phone bill in the country to pay for them! (Check it out if you weren't already aware.)
Anyone can get a free phone these days. You may have heard about the National Review Online employee who got three phones? She didn't lie and she didn't misrepresent anything. She just showed up in the general vicinity of the welfare office and was practically accosted by people with offers of free phones. Something has to be done to stop this.
Meantime, I want to offer my thanks, once again, to the three million Conservatives who didn't go to the polls last November, thus giving us another four years of President Obama. How's it working out for you so far?
