Roanoke Times Editing of Letter to the Editor

I know they reserve the right to edit, but I was surprised to realize the extent and the content.  I've highlighted edits to my letter in the post below.  I didn't notice at first.  What they did took a lot away from the letter.  That Mark Warner was the deciding vote for Obamacare is something we should know. The fact that my (and my husband's) former employer is contributing $1000 per year for each of us - my husband and me - for a new health care plan is a pertinent point.  And why edit out "Ed" in the last sentence?  Makes him sound like a less serious candidate, I think......  "We need to elect Ed Gillespie on November 4th" versus "We need to elect Gillespie on November 4th.  "  A bit of a difference, I do believe.

Just when I thought the new editorial page editor was making some really positive changes...  I think I need to call him, after the election.
