Senior Statesmen of VA Candidate Forum - Charlottesville - August 13th

Signs galore outside the Senior Center where the
Forum was held.


Congressman Goode and Tom Perriello met for their
first forum. Following 15-minute opening statements,
they responded to pre-submitted questions for over
an hour.

SML Republican Women's Club Members and
Associates - all Virgil "Fans" - travelled up for the
Forum. L-R Warren Ibaugh, Ron Bach, Ginnie
Ibaugh and Pat and Paul Greier.

The contrast between the two candidates could not have been greater. Virgil is knowledgeable, knows and understands the issues and how things get accomplished (or not) and Perriello is a naive, short, stocky, white version of Obama. He talks at length, but says absolutely nothing. He appeared to be trying to insert a "generational" element into the discussion, referring a couple of times to "my" generation. It was clear to me that Mr. Perriello is absolutely clueless about how to represent the good people of the 5th District.

Former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger (Bush 41)was in attendance and was unimpressed as well. As a matter of fact, he was livid about a comment Perriello made about what "he" had accomplished for Afghanistan. The Secretary, in an interview with a local TV station, said, "How dare that little punk stand up there and claim any credit for Afghanistan. It was our troops! And if I sound annoyed, it's because I am!"

I urge everyone to attend one of these forums. I promise you, your appreciation for Virgil will be greater when you leave. (See Upcoming Events at right.)
