Card Check Legislation

Here's what we've been waiting for, people.

The "Employee Free Choice Act" (EFCA) or "card check" bill was re-introduced on Tuesday in the House of Representatives (H.R. 1409) and in the Senate (S. 560). If passed, union organizing activities are effectively streamlined, and even the smallest businesses may be impacted. In the House, 222 Representatives have signed onto the measure, including Virginia Congressmen Boucher, Scott, Moran, and Connolly; Representative Nye, Wittman, Forbes, Perriello and Goodlatte have not committed.

The Senate version, introduced by Senator Edward Kennedy, has 39 co-sponsors. Virginia Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner have yet to establish a position. Please take a minute to call, e-mail, fax or write our elected officials and voice your thoughts. I think maybe we're about to find out how much they intend to represent the interests of Virgini and the 5th District and how much they intend to vote merely to advance the agenda of the Unions and other Socialist interests.

Senator Mark Warner (D)
Senator Jim Webb (D)
Representative Tom Perriello (D-5th)
