Do you want the U.S. to be China for even a minute? Tom Friedman ( NY Times and Meet the Press) does! Yep, that's what he said. The Meet the Press panel was addressing the Obama administration's handling of the oil spill and Friedman got all carried away talking about climate change and the evils of oil and said - I'm paraphrasing for now, as I can't get the NBC video link to work - "If we could just be China for a day, our government could just order this stuff done." Paul Gigot (Wall Street Journal and Fox News) immediately said, "You want to be like China?" Of course, Tom qualifed his statement, but that he said it in the first place gives me the creeps.
I haven't watched Meet the Press in quite some time and this reminded me why.
