This time it's his call for Treasury Secretary Geithner to be replaced. He's pleased with himself that he took his position before Republican Leader John Boehner made his call. Yet, poor guy, he just can't get a grip on reality - that Geithner is Obama's choice and that the policies he's been implementing are Obama's policies. He said in a statement released yesterday on his position:
“Though he has changed the rhetoric, Treasury Secretary Geithner has too often championed President Bush’s economic priorities of bailing out Wall Street, ignoring construction and manufacturing, and going easy on Chinese currency manipulation and dumping practices. This approach, which has gained consensus among elites in both parties, is based on the flawed logic that subsidizing speculators to the hilt will eventually spread a few dollars to everyone else. The financial sector is vital to the economy, but Geithner and the Republicans need to wake up to the fact that Americans are hurting for jobs on Main Street."
He goes on to refer to himself as a Perot-style Democrat and questions why Boehner would call for Geithner's resignation, since he mostly supported Geithner's policies. And to prove he really is a Perot-kinda-guy, he proceeds to use the term "giant sucking sound" when referring to jobs being lost. Just incredible! I keep saying it and he keeps proving me right . . . Tom thinks we're all stupid and uninformed.
