As if editing President Bush's biography on the White House web site to soften some of his accomplishments and inserting Obama's accomplishments in several other presidents' biographies wasn't enough, we now learn they are editing State Department documents to make Obama look good. Its long-running series of Background Notes, which were analytical, objective histories of other countries are being replaced by "Fact Sheets," that tout Obama's policies and actions toward each nation. No more historical context or documentation of complex issues in each country, just a look through the lens of the Obama administration.
A long-time employee of the State Department - Jim Roberts, who used to write the Background Notes - says he's never seen anything like it, from Republicans or Democrats. He said they "seem not to be 'fact sheets', but more like 'brag sheets'." Taxpayer-funded campaign commercials?
