SML Republican Women represented at Festival of Lights, The Pointe at Mariners Landing

(Double-click on the tree for larger image. Please note Sallie decked out in her bow, there to help out!)

Having a tree in The Festival of Lights presents an opportunity to Republicans for publicity, contributions, poinsettia sales, membership, education and prize money, to the tune of $500, if we're voted the best tree, which we absolutely are! We just need to get the votes! When we were offered the opportunity - in lieu of selling poinsettias to The Pointe, as they use artificial! - I thought it was something we had to do. I talked with Deedee and some other members in the neighborhood to request approval and a "loaner" tree and decorations. I also talked to my good friend and neighbor, Barbara Ottinger and asked if she would help with ideas on how to design the tree to best convey our message. She did one - or ten - better . . . she designed and trimmed the tree! Thank you, Barbara and thanks to Jim as well, as he schlepped ladders, tree, etc., and also did some creative work with the stars for the top of the tree. Also, alternately helping and making fun of me for my technique of putting lights on the tree, thanks to Mary Lou and Paul McDonald (Paul also schlepped a tree over to us plus he and Mary Lou are the tree light repair experts!), Pat and Paul Greier and my husband, Ron Bach. Thanks to Ron, also for helping with the assembly of what we thought was a 7' tree, but turned out to be a 9' - or who knows how big - tree!

To win, we need to get the most votes, so please, please, please, urge your friends, neighbors and their friends and neighbors to stop in at The Pointe, view the trees and then vote for our tree - located in the Bedford Room, just across the hall from the restaurant - at the front desk (main level) on their way out. All proceeds from this event will go into the SMLRWC Community Service Fund, so that should alleviate some concern of supporting a political organization. Voting will end with the Chamber After Hours and the Mariners Social events on December 18th. SO, get yourselves and others over here to make sure we win!

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
