We've had over a week to mope and beat ourselves up over what went wrong this year, and now it's time to stop. This year was just not meant to be. Sen. McCain & Gov. Palin faced a political headwind against which no one I know could have won, the campaign itself stumbled several times and they still didn't get completely obliterated. Thanks largely, in my opinion - and also Dick Morris' opinion ;) - to Sarah Palin. Now there's a rising star in our Party. If you happened to catch her this morning at the Republican Governor's Association (RGA) meeting in FL, she articulated so clearly the basic principles of the Party - small government, low taxes, personal responsibility, free market solutions - and how states can be models for how the Federal Government could work. She is very good.
Now we're heading into 2009 with state-wide and district offices to fill. We have a governor's seat to re-capture and a lt. governor and atty. gen'l. to hang on to. We also have a couple of delegates - Charles Poindexter and Kathy Byron - to re-elect, by hopefully widening margins.
To help us make a difference in those races, we need $$$! Those $$$ come largely from our current fundraiser - selling poinsettias! We could be on track for a record-breaking year - thanks to a few new members who have hit the ground running - but I'll keep you posted. Deadline is November 20 to the grower, so happy selling between now and then!
