No, people, we did not win the Festival of Trees contest and the $500 prize. That we had the prettiest tree - by far - is not even in question, but the puppies, kittens and kids (Humane Society and Boys' and Girls' Club) managed to pull at the heart strings of more donors. (We're thinking maybe an animated baby elephant in a cage for next year!)
Meantime, we did manage to collect almost $400 and had fun doing it. AND, the event at The Pointe on Thursday night was wonderful. We all had a great time and enjoyed some fabulous food - okay, and beverages, too. ;)
My thanks to all who contributed, solicited contributions, to those who came on Thursday night and especially to Deedee who did all of the above. Special mention goes to the attendees of the Christmas Party at Waterfront who pitched in a total of $216. Thanks to my husband Ron for his support and tolerance. And last, but not least, I will be eternally grateful to my neighbors, Barbara and Jim Ottinger. To Barbara for her creativity and hard work and to Jim for pitching in to do whatever.
Like we always say when the home team loses the tournament . . . just wait 'til next year! ;)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everyone!
