The Perriello Watch

Today's SML Republican Women's Club meeting featured our favorite guest speaker, our former congressman, Virgil Goode, who spoke a bit on health care reform and then some on Congressman Perriello.

The main thing that I learned was about the second vote on the TARP, which occurred under the Obama administration. It turns out that a provision in the original bill - passed under the Bush administration - allowed for the second $350B to be released by a majority of either the Senate or the House. The Senate passed the bill first, so there was no need for a vote in the House, except for political purposes so that Pelosi could give freshman congressmen like Tom Perriello a chance to vote the way he knew his constituents would have wanted. Did you get that? The second vote on the TARP in the House was a SHAM!! It was taken only so that people like Tom Perriello could deceive his constituents and have them believe he stood up for what they believe.

We need to follow this man closely and watch his votes and also watch what the total vote count is. I have checked that on a few bills and have found that when his vote might have made a difference, he voted the wrong way. When the vote isn't close, Nancy allows him to vote with his constituents.

We have a new web site to check in on from time to time. It's www.youtube.com/perriellowatch. I just watched all three episodes and particularly enjoyed Eposide #1. It shows him at his best at what I understand he's really good at and that is not answering the question but making the questioner believe he's really on her side. This time, though, it didn't work. ;) Enjoy!
